The foundation of D&CO’s approach resides in the leadership of Timothy Downing, Founder and Design Principal. Since 2001, Tim has worked to create a branding and interactive design firm built on the rigors of quality design and high-level project execution.
Since founding Design & Co. in 2001, Tim has built a well-honed, multi-disciplinary team of design, business strategy, copy editing, photography and video, and technical talent for the task of creating industry leading brand expressions for its clients. To each project engagement, Tim brings uncommon candor, insight, and an unfailing loyalty to a client’s value proposition and future success. Tim received his formal design training in architecture, having received a Master of Architecture from Yale University in 1996 and a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University in 1988. Prior to co-founding D&CO, Tim practiced architecture in Boston’s most reputable design firms. As Design Principal at D&CO, the firm has received 18 regional and two national communication awards from the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and an American Graphic Design Award from Graphic Design/USA.
With more than 25 years’ experience in corporate communications, investor relations, public relations, and finance, Jennifer is a seasoned strategic communications professional skilled at storytelling and crafting core content that effectively reflects a company's personality, vision, and value proposition. Her core strengths lie in audience identification and message development to effectively reach specific targets, while ensuring consistency across all media. In addition to extensive consulting experience, Jennifer has served as head of communications at multiple life science companies, where she was responsible for all investor- and media-related strategy development and implementation, and as a sellside analyst at Merrill Lynch, where she followed the mid-cap and specialty pharmaceutical sector. Jennifer received a BA in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School, where she made Dean's List and was selected for membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society.
Scott is a brand storyteller devoted to finding meaning that inspires better brand positions. He brings considerable experience, having recently served as Chief Brand Officer for PAVLOV Advertising, where he formed methods for insights gathering and brand development. He has crafted strategies for startups to global giants. He believes brands are about relationships on a human scale, and that they thrive on empathy for the customer. He began his career as an advertising copywriter at RadioShack, ultimately rising to director of corporate communications. He shifted to the ad agency scene, with decades of award-winning results in advertising, culture building, media relations, and marketing. He has written for all forms of media. Scott earned his BA in Marketing from TCU and is a frequent guest lecturer on branding for the MBA programs at Baylor University, Tulane University, and TCU.
Since the company’s founding, Gigi has created engaging and memorable portraits, lifestyle photographs, and architectural and food photographs for numerous D&CO clients. Noteworthy projects include food/product photography for Russo’s, Katsiroubas Produce, the Cottage Restaurant, and Perimeter Brand Packaging; architectural photography for Pembroke Real Estate and LStar Ventures; and lifestyle and portrait photography for Akebia Therapeutics, Adimab, Blueprint Medicines, Avitide, Pickard Chilton, ARC, and Amagma Therapeutics. When not taking photographs for D&CO, Gigi works as one of the nation’s preeminent wedding photographers, having photographed events throughout the country and internationally, including the Chelsea Clinton/Marc Mezvinsky and Nate Berkus/Jeremiah Brent weddings. Gigi received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA and is a graduate of the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA.
Bridget has been a Senior Designer at Design & Co. since 2013. She specializes in brand identities, web design, and print design (with expertise in print production including unique formats, fine papers, and custom processes such as embossing and dielines). With over 15 years of experience, Bridget has worked with clients in industries as diverse as architecture, the arts, healthcare, outdoor adventure, travel, and retail. She is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Colgate University.
Christina has been a lead designer for Design & Co. since 2003. In addition to her superior skills as a graphic and web designer, Christina specializes in the communication of complex information. She has over 15 years of experience designing both print and digital collateral, including brand/identity systems, annual reports, brochures, books, conference materials, websites and infographics. Christina holds a MFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and a BA in International Affairs, Economics, and Environmental Studies from New York University.
