A bronze plaque affixed to a small boulder on the west side of the town common facing Boston Road honors Colonel John Robinson. Westford’s highest-ranking officer of the Revolutionary War, Colonel Robinson led the militia companies at the North Bridge in Concord on April 19, 1775 alongside Major John Buttrick. He fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill as second-in-command to Colonel William Prescott of Pepperell and served under General George Washington during the Siege of Boston.
