This includes Daniel Thompson and Asahel Porter, two Woburnites who were killed during the Battles of <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/communities\/lexington\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lexington<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/communities\/concord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Concord<\/a> on April 19, 1775, and Colonel Loammi Baldwin, a commander of the <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomsway.org\/communities\/woburn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woburn<\/a> militia.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the cemetery was rededicated for the City\u2019s 375th anniversary. Two plaques were placed honoring the cemetery\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>The smaller plaque reads:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">FIRST BURIAL GROUND<br \/>\n1642 UNTIL 1794<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">DANIEL THOMPSON AND ASAHEL PORTER,<br \/>\nBOTH CASUALTIES OF THE BATTLES OF<br \/>\nLEXINGTON AND CONCORD<br \/>\nLIE INTERRED HERE AND MANY<br \/>\nIMPORTANT EARLY WOBURNITES<\/p>\n<p>Another, larger plaque reads:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">First Burial Ground<br \/>\n1642-1794<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This ancient burial ground holds the remains of<br \/>\nWoburn&#8217;s earliest citizens. They were brave men, women<br \/>\nand children who went into the wilderness looking<br \/>\nto fulfill their dreams of a new and better life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They were our founding families, named Johnson,<br \/>\nRichardson, Brooks, Convers, Carter, Fowle, Pierce, Reed<br \/>\nand Wyman. These ministers, soldiers, farmers, doctors<br \/>\nand statesmen established a strong and vibrant town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Among the distinguished dead that are interred here<br \/>\nare the ancestors of eight United States Presidents,<br \/>\nmilitary leader Colonel Loammi Baldwin and<br \/>\nDaniel Thompson, the first Woburn soldier killed<br \/>\nin the Revolutionary War.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We honor their determination and courage.<br \/>\nMay it always be remembered by future generations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The First Burial Ground is on the National Historic Register.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Dedicated on the 375th Anniversary of Woburn<br \/>\nMay 29, 2017<br \/>\nMayor Scott D.
