William Crosby gifted the Southwest Parish of Amherst<\/a>, which later became Milford<\/a>, a one-acre piece of land for a cemetery in 1788. In 1915, the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented the town with granite gates and a plaque for the cemetery in honor of the soldiers from town who fought in that war. There are 40 Revolutionary soldiers buried here, including William’s brother, Captain Josiah Crosby<\/a>.<\/p>\n
