Open Positions

Land Development Design Engineer:

This is a lead position for a licensed Civil Engineer with demonstrated capability and experience with managing a design team and guiding large projects from concept to completion.

The successful candidate will:

  • Consult with clients and senior management to guide projects from concept phase through design approvals and ultimately construction;
  • Be responsible for developing and adhering to project schedules and budgets;
  • Manage a team of staff engineers and support personnel while actively engaging in the design process, all as required to successfully complete project designs, secure permits, and approvals, and prepare construction documents;
  • Be responsible for managing multiple projects and overseeing professional staff;
  • Represent the firm in meetings with clients, municipal regulatory bodies, and other permitting agencies including attendance at night meetings;
  • Understand and interpret local zoning, land development, stormwater management, and flood plain ordinances;
  • Be familiar with the design of roads, site grading, parking lots, utilities, stormwater controls, and post-construction stormwater management systems;
  • Be responsible for reviewing the work of staff and developing staff talent.


The successful candidate will have completed a BS or MS in Civil Engineering and be a Professional Engineer registered in Pennsylvania (or be able to obtain registration in Pennsylvania via reciprocity within 6 months of hiring). Candidates should have a minimum of 6-years’ experience with subdivision and land development design in Pennsylvania and be familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater management modeling methods including SCS-based and Rational-based methods, HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS, design of roadway geometry, and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this position.

Water Systems Engineer:

This is a lead position for a licensed civil engineer with demonstrated expertise in the design, permitting, and construction of water distribution systems.

The successful candidate will:

  • Consult with clients and senior management to guide projects from concept phase through design approvals and ultimately construction;
  • Be responsible for developing and adhering to project schedules and budgets;
  • Work in a team environment with staff engineers and support personnel while actively engaging in the design of water distribution, transmission, and storage systems;
  • Be experienced with general Pennsylvania municipal review processes as well as the technical support of Municipal Water Authorities;
  • Be experienced with water system modeling;
  • Be experienced with the design, testing, and permitting of water sources, pumping, and storage systems;
  • Be responsible for managing multiple water system design projects;
  • Represent the firm in meetings with clients, municipal regulatory bodies, and other permitting agencies including attendance at night meetings;
  • Develop relationships with the managers of local water system purveyors and become familiar with the design, permitting, and fee structure requirements of each as necessary to support design projects;
  • Develop Master Plans for water distribution systems and assist in the development of Tapping Fee ordinances and rates and water usage rate schedules for Municipal Water Authority clients;
  • Prepare Construction Documents and administer projects through construction.

The successful candidate will have completed a BS or MS in Civil Engineering and be a Professional Engineer registered in Pennsylvania (or be able to obtain registration in Pennsylvania via reciprocity within 6 months of hiring).  Candidates will have a minimum of 8?years’ experience with the design and permitting of water distribution, source, and storage systems as well as water booster stations and are experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite programs.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for this position.  Familiarity with sanitary sewerage system design and permitting is a plus.

Land Surveyor:

The Pidcock Company is seeking a graduate Land Surveyor who desires to work with clients and design engineers to provide the surveying services required to take large projects from concept to completion.

The person in this position will:

  • Consult with the manager of the Surveying Department to develop project budgets and timelines;
  • Be responsible for completing field topographic surveys, surveys of wetlands, construction verification surveys, construction stakeout, and boundary surveys;
  • Be responsible for review of municipal ordinances and preparation of subdivision plans;
  • Be responsible for review of deeds for the preparation of boundary surveys and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys;
  • Be familiar with land title issues such as easements and rights-of-way;
  • Be responsible for the preparation of title plans and legal descriptions for property deeds, deeds of easements, and deeds of rights-of-way;
  • Be responsible for preparing background topographic plans, including precisely illustrating the locations of land features, grade contours, wetlands and flood plain boundaries, property boundaries, easements and rights-of-way, and above and underground utilities;
  • Prepare right-of-way plans in accordance with PENNDOT standards.

Candidates should have completed a BS in Surveying Engineering and have or be working toward a Professional Land Surveyor License registration in Pennsylvania.  Candidates should be familiar with GPS and robotic total station survey equipment, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite programs.  Familiarity with aerial drone surveying techniques is a plus.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for this position.

Construction Observer:

Construction Observers shall have the following basic qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of age;
  • Valid Driver’s License and use of a personal motor vehicle;
  • General familiarity with the design and function of storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, concrete curb and sidewalks, and street pavements;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to read construction plans and perform basic mathematical calculations;
  • Ability to use hand tools such as measuring rules and builder’s levels; and
  • Familiarity with land surveying techniques and equipment, and construction industry certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities of the Construction Observer will include interaction with contractors, clients, and their personnel on a daily basis, observing and verifying various civil engineering improvements, and their compliance with plans and specifications of the given project.  The Observer should be capable of computing quantities of work successfully completed and preparing daily activity reports recording the progress of construction, as well as other pertinent information related to the work.  The Observer must be able to stand for extended periods of time, navigate through and work in challenging construction site conditions, working in close proximity to active heavy construction equipment in varying weather conditions while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.  The Observer must also be able to see and read a variety of pressure gauges, view and interpret string lines, levels, rulers, and lasers, and their functions, while actively maneuvering to provide the best vantage point for viewing, which often requires the Observer to bend, crouch, and/or kneel.

The typical workday would require Construction Observer to be available from 7:00 AM through 3:30 PM daily Monday through Friday, with compensated overtime depending on the Contractor’s schedule.
