Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Adjacent to historic South Station, this aluminum clad tower welcomes visitors from the east just as it did upon completion in 1976. The building has many specialty design features for monetary storage, vaults and security, but it may be the portal at the base of the building that is the most distinctive. Transferring all the loads from over 30 stories of structure above, a 3-story deep truss spans between the legs at each end of the building to open up the landscaped plaza at street level.
