Our Culture

At LeMessurier, a dedicated and varied group of individuals come together in a unique firm. We pioneer best-in-class solutions, provide exemplary client service, advance building codes and the practices of structural engineering and building enclosure design.

Since joining LeMessurier in 1997, Craig has taken the lead on many of the firm’s most complex designs, often leveraging his expertise in both software and advanced structural analysis. A true emissary of Bill LeMessurier’s guiding principle to “simplify, simplify, simplify,” he has made it his mission to pursue the proper balance between engineering fundamentals and the ever-advancing technologies that are core to structural engineering practice. In addition to keeping watch over the health of our business, Craig will continue to push the envelope of technology with an eye on providing better service to our clients.

As a Managing Principal of LeMessurier, Greg looks forward to strengthening and growing the team to support the evolving needs of clients.

Aaron enjoys working with a team of engineers on large projects and finds mentoring young engineers to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the profession.

Qian has built his technical experience over the last 9 years with LeMessurier by contributing to a breadth of projects spanning the eastern half of the U.S. from life science laboratories in Boston, to student housing in North Carolina, to renovating an existing recital hall in Pennsylvania, and engineering a new one in Massachusetts. Qian demonstrates a remarkable depth of understanding and generosity of expertise.

David endeavors to deliver client-centered service while contributing to and leading the structural design effort on a variety of new and renovation projects. Prior to joining LeMessurier in 2015, David gained significant experience as a licensed residential builder in Michigan, where he owned a successful small business and performed much of the work. With this unique perspective, he appreciates well-thought-out details and the constructability of the pieces on the page. He and his wife currently live in Boston where they enjoy cooking at home or experiencing the food scene.

While studying in Washington, D.C., he had internships with general contractors inspiring him to join the design side of engineering. David is interested in forensic investigations and historical masonry buildings, and hopes to contribute to a more sustainable building and design industry.

Since joining LeMessurier in 2005, Derek has been instrumental to the rapid progress of state-of-the-art solutions that have streamlined LeMessurier’s workflow. Over the years he has worked closely with owners, architects, and contractors to deliver creative structural solutions for a variety of projects from commercial high rises to stadium structures.

To borrow and slightly misuse the words of Hardy Cross, a giant of engineering, "[s]trength is essential, but otherwise unimportant." Emily always tries to keep in mind that engineering is never the point of a project - the people and environments served always have to be front and center. In her practice at LeMessurier, Emily strives to make the solutions to hard problems appear easy and obvious, so that LeMessurier's clients can go on designing spaces that people will love.

Unique architecture, sustainable design, and community building are values that LeMessurier encourages, which is what inspired Emma to join the Boston team in July of 2022. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire and engaging in an internship in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, LeMessurier provides Emma the opportunity to incorporate these values into the structural engineering field as well as exercise her eagerness and willingness to learn as a young engineer.

Eric joined LeMessurier in 2019 after 5 years at another structural consulting company. His major projects at LeMessurier so far are the Josiah Quincy Upper School and the Kenmore Square Redevelopment. Eric participates in the company's environmental sustainability practice, focusing on studying structural framing systems that optimize embodied carbon reduction. Another structural engineering interest of his is progressive collapse mitigation, which he studied in grad school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Since 2018, Irfan has brought his wide experience in structural mechanics to bear at LeMessurier. Leveraging his expertise in computational mechanics and experience in carrying out finite element analysis on a broad range of applications, from medical prosthetics, pressure vessels, steel catenary risers, off-shore oil rigs, and mechanical component analysis, to dynamic soil-structure interaction analyses for nuclear structures, he focuses on first principles to develop efficient, buildable solutions rather than relying on prescriptive design methods.

Stephen serves as one of the chairs of the BSA's Building Enclosure Council and is an active member in the ACE Mentoring program.

With more than 40 years as a structural engineer, Tim’s experience is instrumental in conducting forensic investigations and condition surveys including remediations for both structural and building enclosure systems. He works on all types and phases of projects from conceptual design through project closeout, from residential to large infrastructure, and from railroad bridges to power plants. Tim’s building science knowledge provides a bridge connecting enclosure to LeMessurier’s structural expertise.
