Design & Construction

Our design & construction practice is focused on providing outside general counsel services to 200+ U.S. design firms practicing throughout the country and around the world and to foreign firms practicing in the US.

We assist clients with a range of services including negotiating design services agreements, addressing issues that arise during the course of a project, ownership transition and dispute resolution.

Environmental & Land Use

Our environmental and land use practice is focused on environmental impact reviews, climate resiliency, zoning, environmental permitting of renewable energy projects, hazardous waste cleanup and cost recovery and brownfields redevelopment, wetlands and tidelands matters.

Many of our environmental and land use client are government agencies or non-profits.

History

We began the firm in 2003 with a focused interest in working within two areas of strength — serving as outside general counsel to design firms and building an environmental and land use practice that drew on our public-sector experience. With established relationships in the design field, we understood that design firms needed nimble and responsive outside general counsel services.

We also recognized a client base that could benefit from our environmental and land use expertise. We built the firm with a commitment to advocating for our clients by listening carefully, seeking common ground and finding solutions to tough problems — and doing so cost-effectively, creatively, and pragmatically.
