To provide modern outpatient space suitable for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients and to co-locate staff with the existing BMT inpatient unit, an underutilized patient unit was renovated into the new BMT clinic and treatment center.
Relocation of the BMT outpatient program into a former inpatient unit allowed them to double patient volumes. The new clinic has 5 exam rooms, blood draw rooms, and 9 apheresis/infusion cubicles, a biopsy treatment room, and 3 observation rooms for 23hr care. The new infusion bays are separated by partially glazed walls and privacy curtains but all are located next to windows overlooking the campus. To protect the immunocompromised patients, finish materials were selected for their ability to be easily cleaned and disinfected.
