The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art cancer center that provides outpatient treatment and diagnostic services, medical research, and inpatient services under one roof. A light-filled atrium at the building entrance provides a main waiting area for the outpatient clinics and a connection to the various programs in the building and to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The outpatient floors were completed in 2008, and the same design team returned to implement the vertical expansion of the inpatient floors, which were completed in 2012. There are 3 multidisciplinary clinics, 50 infusion patient stations, a chemotherapy pharmacy, a floor for Radiation Oncology with 5 linear accelerators and 2 CTs , and 3 floors of patient units for hematology oncology, bone marrow transplant, and surgical oncology. Each floor of the cancer center was designed for future flexibility and clear wayfinding. The lower outpatient floors align with each floor of the adjacent Ambulatory Care Facility for future connection and expansion of outpatient services.
